Halloween

The master class is taught by Elena Morozova, an instructor on the Nail Art programme at the CNI Training Centre, repeated winner of Russian Championships, member of the Russian Nail Art team, Creative Director at CNI, expert in CNI-NSP brand promotion, and international judge.

One of the basic attributes of Halloween is the jack o’ lantern, a head carved out of a pumpkin with a lighted candle inside.  According to the Irish legend an old farmer called Jack, who enjoyed gambling and strong drink, did not go to Heaven when he died because of his wicked life, nor to Hell as the Devil had sworn to him not to take his soul.  He was doomed to wander around the world carrying a pumpkin head with a smouldering piece of coal inside it.

  • Step 1

Carrying out the preliminary preparation of the natural nail plate.  Treating the hands of the technician and the client with Antiseptic Lotion.   Pushing back the cuticle with orange sticks.

  • Step 2

Shaping the free edge of the nails and removing the shine from the surface of the natural nail plate with a 180/240 grit White Granite nail file.

  • Step 3

Cleaning the pterygium with a Ceramic Pumice nail file.

  • Step 4

Preparing the nail place with Nail Surface Cleanser at the second stage.  Then, with a No1 Fairy Point brush, we apply Ultra Bondex to the entire surface of the nail plate, making sure it does not go under the cuticle and free edge of the nails.  Ultra Bondex dries in 2 to 3 minutes when exposed to air.

  • Step 5

Placing an Oval disposable form under the free edge of the nail.  Covering the nail place with Matrix base gel.  Cure in the UV lamp for 1 to 2 minutes.

  • Step 6

Placing an Oval disposable form under the free edge of the nail.  Covering the nail place with Matrix base gel.  Cure in the UV lamp for 1 to 2 minutes.

  • Step 7

With a No6 Perfect Petal brush we apply a partial tint of Spring Sky and Pink Panther gels from the Neon collection of coloured liquid gels and Sea Depth, SummerSun and FrozenBilberry gels from the Classic collection of coloured gels.  We cure the gel in the UVlamp for one and a half minutes.

  • Step 8

With a No6 Perfect Petal brush we apply DesertApeliotus from the Breath of Wind collection of coloured liquid gels.  We cure the gel in the UV lamp for one and a half minutes.  With a 412 Magical Square brush we again apply Crystal gel on the free edge.  We cure the gel in the UV lamp for one and a half minutes.

  • Step 9

With a 412 Magical Square brush we apply a thin layer of Strong sculpting gel, forming a perfect nail surface.  Without curing, we use a 412 Magical Square brush to apply a mix of White Smile gel from the French collection and Coal from the Classic collection of coloured liquid gels prepared earlier, drawing a mist in the soft sculpture.  We cure the gel in the UV lamp for one and a half minutes.

  • Step 10

We apply Strong sculpting gel, forming an ideal nail construction.  We remove the dispersion layer with Nail Surface Cleanser.  We file the nail with a 100/180 Quartz nail file.

  • Step 11

With a Fairy Point brush we draw roofs with Coral gel from the Classic collection and Sweet Orange from the Neon collection.  We cure the gel in the UV lamp for one and a half minutes.

  • Step 12

With water acrylic paint we draw silhouettes of bats and house roofs.  We apply a thin layer of Flash gel.  We cure the gel in the UV lamp for one and a half minutes.  We apply a further layer of Flash.  We cure the gel in the UV lamp for two minutes.

  • Step 13

    The finished result.
